How do I disable Pop-Ups that appear when using Chrome?

Getting Rid of Pop-Ups

There are many mechanisms by which pop-up ads appear on your computer - the most
common methods, by far, are either
(A) by sneaking in with useful, free Chrome Extensions or
(B) by asking to “allow notifications” when you visit a website.

After logging into your computer and Chrome Browser, to disable or prevent pop-ups, the
following two methods are the first that we, in technology, will take:

A. Removing / Disabling Chrome Extensions
Many free Chrome Extensions come with advertisements that will pop-up on your computer.
Some Chrome Extensions are nothing more than adware. The following steps will help you
delete or disable suspect (non-Google) Chrome extensions:

1) Launch your Chrome Web Browser
2) Click the three dots in the upper-right-hand corner of your browser window
3) Select “More Tools” and “Extensions”
4) Click “Remove”, or toggle the “Disable” slider, on any extensions that might be suspect
(or come from a free source)

B. Blocking or Removing Notifications
Another method used to push notifications and pop-ups to your computer can be found in
Chrome’s notification settings. Some websites or services may innocently ask if you would like
certain informative notifications - and after agreeing they will, instead, send annoying ads or
pop-ups that may or may not be related to their actual site content. To remove/disable:

1) Launch your Chrome Web Browser
2) Click the three dots in the upper-right-hand corner of your browser window (see step 2 in
Method 1 above)
3) Select “Settings”
4) Select “Advanced” at the bottom of “Settings”
5) Under “Content and Privacy”, select “Content Settings”
6) Select “Notifications”
7) You will see two types of notifications:
a) Blocked - sites that are not allowed to push notifications to your computer
b) Allowed - sites that can send notifications to your computer
8) Under “Allowed” you may see two types of notifications (see image below):
a) An extension (it looks like a puzzle piece)
b) A web notification (it looks like three dots)
9) To disable a notification that is an extension (the puzzle piece), you must remove or
disable the extension (see Removing / Disabling Chrome Extensions above). You
cannot disable/remove it here.
10) To disable a general notification, click on the three dots and select “Block” or “Remove”.
